8/10/2007

LV Tilbury, in partnership with LV Agencies in Vlaardingen, has been awarded three contracts for the worldwide logistics of project cargo to Libya.

The principal client is Penspen Ltd in the UK, an international design and engineering company in the petrochemical market, who are designing and constructing an LP Gas compression station and facilities at Zueitina Oil’s desert site in Libya, plus a fuel gas pipeline from the site to the Marsa el Brega port terminal.
The majority of ocean freight will be shipped into the specialised port of Marsa el Brega (Marsa al Burayqah), with maybe a small percentage shipped jnto Tripoli or Benghazi. Airfreight cargo will be sent via Tripoli airport.

LV are also responsible for all Libyan in-country activities, including all local handling and discharging operations and final road transportation to Zueitina Oil’s desert site, some 350km south east of Marsa el Brega.

LV has made an agency agreement with a Libyan forwarder, Universal Shipping Co, who’s head office is in Tripoli. Universal has branch offices in most other main towns and ports, including Benghazi, Marsa el Brega, Misrateh, Tobruk, Al Khums, Abu Kamash and Ras Lanuf.

The contracts are expected to last until 2009, although we will be actively looking to secure additional contracts in Libya.
